Good ratcheting wrenches. There really aren't many specialty tools to take apart a psd. I highly recommend Auto Enginuity scan tool. Most obd2 scanners wont read psd trouble codes
I can't believe nobody has said it yet.... a DEEP 1 1/8" 6-point 1/2" drive socket. This is for the IPR(injection pressure regulator). My craftsman socket is the perfect depth. Some have reported that other brand sockets needed modifying to be able to fit all the way on the IPR.
Travis, good to know a craftsman socket will fit. I've had the IPR rebuild kit sitting in my glovebox for a while but have been to lazy to mess with a socket. Guess I should get that back on the to do list

None of the ones I had would fit in the hole. I ended up using a 1 1/8" wrench and it worked great. I bought that wrench within two weeks of owning the truck for those banjo bolts.
I did not have any use for either a 21mm wrench or socket (shackle bolts, probably others) or a 3.5 mm allen (stock dana locking hubs) until I worked on mine.
Man, I totally forgot about the ratcheting wrenches. I have a couple sets of these and I have to say that they are the first wrenches I grab when I open the drawer. Get yourself a good set and you will be hooked!

Hey will this one buzz the injectors? I got a guy who is wanting to sell me his obs as a 2nd truck for me and want to get a complete picture as much as possible...
Thanks for a lot of great suggestions. Keep em coming.
I agree with the beer suggestion. But progress slows to a crawl when the beer comes out. Ya can't let them get warm, right?
I will have to look into the scan tool. I have a decent obd 2 + abs scanner but I haven't tried it on the psd yet. I doubt it will be compatible. I bought it long before considering a diesel.
The ratcheting wrenches are great. i have had the type with the swivel ends for a few years now. Great invention.
One tool I can think of that I want is a schrader valve adapter so I can hook up a pressure guage to the fuel bowl fitting for testing.
Is that a common tool? Who sells that stuff?
