getting used to the idea that i will have to fab my own hood.

I think it is a start. You need to bring down the front first so the factory line will line up. The you will have to line up as much factory side of the hood as much as you can then fill in the rest.

Yeah you are going to have to cut it but you knew that. Remember all you can do is try.

I have a 48 to 50 hood with dents in it .. for the low price of $50. and the cost of shipping

i would jump on this, can't imagine trying to make my own hood and have it turn out like anything...just my opinion. not saying it can't be done but holy moly ! shipping that greyhound shouldn't be too bad really..

I second the motion...jump on 48coe's spare hood!! The project you've started can be done, but it'll be a lot of work.

What do I think?

I think for someone that claims he doesn't know what he is doing it looks great. Great imagination coming up with a good use of chev parts and using what you have on hand. Personally though I would go for the 48 - 50 hood and be happy to get it even if it needs a lot of work.
