ticking noise
i have an 02 f-150 with the 5.4 and have been trying to fine this really annoying tick noise on the drivers side for a long time now. i have done a lot of searching on this forum as well as others and alot of research online. i have all new exhaust including new long tube headers new pipe, high flow cats, h- pipe and mufflers. there is not one exhaust leak. i have replaced my spark plugs and made sure they were tight. you can only hear it when truck is in gear and driving. it is coming from the driver side and almost sounds like it is coming from behind the dash. it is realy hard to trck down when you can only hear it when driving. it dose get louder when i turn the ac on. any ideas would be great its driving me crazy to the point i dont want to drive the truck any more lol.

It's not the AC/compressor short cycling is it? Your refr charge is good? Not necessarily a ticking noise - but that cycling did drive me nuts.
Only other thing I've read a lot about is the drivetrain, phaser tyicking issue with this engine. I had a sort of "jingling" noise at idle coming from waht sounded like the pulleys. Changing to 10W30 from 5W20 solved that problem.

not the a/c its working good. when your sittin in the cab it almost sounds like it coming from around the brake booster area. i looked for any hoses that could be leakin but couldnt find any.
