Carbon Canisters?

Ok i was looking under my hood today (84 f-150 302) and I noticed two little boxs on the pass side by the front. So I looked it up in my Chiltons and it appears to be a Carbon Canister? I think it has something to do with the polution control? If so Can I just take them out cuz i pulled all my polution control stuff out! Will this hurt anything? They dont appear to be connected to anything. I can get pics if it will help. I hope this post makes scense!

Carbon Canisters?

You should have a small line running along the frame that goes into the canister. This comes from the gas tank, and lets the gas tank breathe when fuel is pumped out by the engine. The canister is a convenient place to leave this hooked up, even though it's probably not working as designed. If you take it off, make sure not to plug the line from the gas tank.
