I'm in need of a 67-72 Ford truck frame. I'm looking to convert my 2wd bump to a 4wd. Please let me know if anyone has anything. I'm located in South Carolina.
Harry, Just a frame may be very hard to come by. You may well be better served buying a complete truck and moving your favorite sheet metal to it.
Power steering and brakes are something that you may want to consider and finding that already on the truck can save lots of time & money. I am not up on my 4X4s as much as 2wds but some of the latter years can offer more benefits.
The chassis are swappable up through 79. Ford added 4in to the rear of the cab in 73 that will effect the bed mount, but is workable.
I'm about to buy a 67 4x4 LWB F250 and parting out everything I don't need. The frame is on that list. I'm not shure how good it is but from what I saw it should be good. After all it has a decent bed. If the bed is good than the frame must be fine in my mind.
I'm located in southeast PA. My old F350 isn't up for such a long trip but if you want to make the drive. It can be yours if the price is right!! I'll figure out the scrap price and weather or not you would want it blasted first.
I have a 72 original 2 wheel drive setting on a 76 single wheel 1ton frame. Worked out pretty well as said above it is a little longer but it worked out pretty well... Highboy with a 460 and auto tranny....
Actually if your interested in making a trip to southern Ohio i could make you a pretty good deal on the whole setup! LWB with disk brakes on the front, power steering... Or possibly the frame and drive train, i have had recent thoughts of putting it back on a 2 wheel drive setup.
