Have the Camper Special and it has the wide mirrors. I want to replace them with smaller mirrors, I'm not going to be tagging a camper with my truck anytime soon. Any comments or suggestions out there.
Yeah, get the low profile modern mirrors...the old factory high-profile mirrors on my truck make a nasty blind spot on both sides. I cringe when she-who-must-be-obeyed has to drive it.
The C7AZ-17696-A non hooded Passenger Car type mirror was standard equipment (left side only) on all 1967/79 F100/350's except Camper Specials.
This mirror has been reproduced. Some repro parts sellers call it the "Sport Mirror" but Ford never did. Rear vision is severly limited with this mirror.
The problem with the low mount mirrors introduced in 1973 is: If installed on a 1967/72, the mirror head/brackets will not sit level, because the '67/72's door contour is different.
Small round chrome mirrors were used 1955/66. The doors on these trucks have a rectangular slot punched out in them for the mirror bracket to fit into. If not used, a rubber plug was placed in the slot.
Therefore...this mirror will not fit any 1967 or later truck.
Thanks Mike and ND. I will peruse yaybay to see if those show up. Not to savvy about having limited visability with the round mirrors since I may have my wife drive truck too. Both of you have a great day.
I have a set of chrome ones from an 80s ford f-150 the head of the mirror is the same as the one on my 69 but the base is shorter if you were putting both on they would look good contact me if your interested in them
