Air induction systems. What do you use?

I was thinking about a cold air induction system for my 94 F150 with a 5.0, and I wanted your input on it. I was thinking about the K&N 57 series intake system, mainly because it's the only one summit shows. Are their others out there. BBK had them for newer F150s but not pre 97.

What do you run on your 5.0?

I vote for the stock set up for a few reasons. Save the cash, those intakes aren't going to do you much good.

the only reason i do cold air intakes if thats what you want to call them is simply because i think it makes your engine sound throatier and it it seems to make the exhaust sound different too..(maybe thats just me) but i like the sound it gives.

Wow.. I would have stayed with the stock setup. GHETTO

If your going to do it do it right.

For those with SD get a 2 into 1 splitter from a MAF truck then run 1 intake tube.

www.siliconeintakes.com

I had my exhaust shop bend me up some 3" piping like the "madramper" intake. Ill get some prettier piping from siliconeintakes one day..

Im willing to bet my setup gets more air flow, and cooler air flow than any of the 2 into 1 setups. Both of my filters are positioned right in front of the two vent holes on either side of the radiator, so the air isnt stagnant or warm engine bay air.

I used to have the 2 into 1 setup, this flows much better and you can feel the difference.

And I know it isnt winning any beauty competitions, but I had to do something quickly because I lost my stock tubes while I had the truck apart fixing it, and not a damn soul in town had one to replace it.

Besides, once I redo it all with stainless tubing, it will look 10x sexier than anything Ive seen on here so far

You can bet all you want, but actually measuring air intake temperature will prove you wrong. What you now have is a HAI (hot air intake). The positioning of your filters right in front of the vent holes will make little difference as there is too much hot air coming through the radiator which heats up everything in the engine compartment (not to mention all of the heat radiated off of the engine itself).

The stock airbox is a true cold air intake, which can be made to work even better by adding insulation to it. Check out: FOUR WHEELER Magazine's Project M.P.G.

Well, i'll take your word for it, Im only a parts replacer, not a mechanic or technician. I can disassemble a motor and replace it all, but when it comes to technical aspects and measurements (at least as far as the engine goes), im no guru.

It works for me, and I dont have money to do anything fancy right now (unemployed currently ).

Ive got some plans, and when I actually start on them, it will be done the right way, even if I have to pay someone to do it.

And yes, I am admitting I'm wrong haha

You would be better off just to put one big filter where the stock air box was , all those turns don't help any thing , you want a nice straight shot to the TB.....Lew
