First Question!

...actually I've had a TON of questions since buying my 48 F-1 (226 6cyl) last year but a simple google search always directed me here to previous threads that were a ton of help. So THANKS to everyone!

I haven't been able to set up a signature yet, but I'm located in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Yup -- just a bit north of Bob Jones. It sure has been fun following so many of the threads (the Ford working trucks, wiring questions, and of course the he/she marathon thread) during the long winter and I feel like I already know quite a few of you!

As you can see, this a "business" vehicle and a great daily driver in the Wisconsin summers. I quickly became known as that guy with the old red truck that sells insurance. Well, we started branding ourselves pretty nicely and in December I added a new red 2010 F-150 to my fleet. So now no matter the weather, I'll have one of red Ford trucks out. Pics of the new one will to be posted later.

Now for my question -- does anyone know of a reproduction battery tray for the 226 6cyl?? Mine was rotting out pretty good so I ordered one from Mac's; had the old one ripped out this weekend (literally), go to put the new one in and it doesn't line up correctly. My battery mounts on the driver's side and I think this new one is for an 8cyl with the battery tray on the passenger side. Well, Wisconsin's two weeks of summer are upon us, I'd like to use this one as my commuter, and MOST importantly the first parade of the season is in two weeks. Talk about learning the hard way!! Any ideas?

Welcome to the board!!!
What a gorgeous truck!!!

First thing to do is to order a boat load of catalogs from all the vendors. I'm pretty sure that I've seen the 6cyl battery trays on one of the catalogs but I can't remember which one. Try Mac's Antique Auto, Bob Carpenter's, Bob Drake's, LMC Truck, etc.

Here's a link to an older thread where I posted a boat load of links

If you can't find a new one, check ebay and keep asking around here, someone will probably have one from a truck they are taking apart

Bobby

Nice truck, and a great advertising piece you have there. I don't know why you'd want to mess around with ill-fitting repro parts when good originals are available. (I just happen to have a couple from trucks I'm parting out) Click on my user name and you should find ways to message me off-forum. Welcome to the forum!

Wow!! That's a gorgeous truck. I have State Farm myself (but work for Esurance). There was a 1952 Ford F1 State Farm promotional truck available some time ago. Here's one that ended on eBay, State Farm Insurance die cast 1952 Ford Pickup Truck | eBay.

You have a great looking promotional tool. A set of new reproduction polished stainless steel grill bar trim would really set the truck off and complete the look.

Thanks everyone for the kind words, offers, and helpful links. I'll post an update soon! (More pics too!) I agree that a stainless steel grill would really look sharp -- it's on the wish list!
