I am looking at getting my first psd. i am looking at a 1995 350 cc manual. the guy says it has a noisy flywheel and told me thats just the way new ones are is this true? what kinds of things should i look for in general befor buying a psd.
If the truck has had the Dual Mass clutch replaced with a single mass clutch kit, it is very common for them to make more noise.
Take a look at Steve Baz's page, some very good information here.
Steve Baz’s page: Tips - Idea - Hints
A noisy flywheel is not the way these trucks are, if its a single flywheel the tranny most likely is loud and that is the way it can be, but if the truck still has the DMF look out cause its shot and will cost you at least 500 dollars DIY
since its litteally not worth to buy a new dual mass fly wheel 99% of guys by a single mass kit and alot of trucks tend to get gear roll over from the tranny. this can be dampernd by adding an extra 2 quarts of oil threw the top of the shifter(remove cover)
if the truck has the stock dual mass fly wheel and its making that noise, it must be replaced asap, there have been reports of bad vibrations littearlly shearing off the tranny from the housing rendering the tranny junk. unless you know and extremely good tig welder
