Another Stereo Question

Hi all, I recently installed a pioneer Z120BT in my 2002CC and here's my question: when I turn the key to run and wait for the glow plug light to go off, the head unit starts going through it's start up cycle. Then when I start the truck, power gets momentarily removed from the radio and it has to go through its start up cycle again, and this sometimes takes as long as 30 secs, I guess it doesn't like having power cycled that fast. Has anyone tried anything to prevent this? I was thinking maybe a doubleshot relay that would have to see a 12v input twice before closing or something like that. Any ideas?

30 seconds to power up a stereo? What make is that?

I'm not sure how you could avoid it, other than manually turning it on once you have the truck running.

EDIT: Apparently, I can't read today. I see now where it's a Pioneer. DOH!! I have an AVH-P3200BT coming. I hope I don't have the same issue!!

You could try mounting a small capacitor in-line on the power side. That way when you crank it, the voltage loss would not be seen by the stereo.

First time I've heard this, I to want to get the 3200. 30 seconds, can it be programed to just go to radio or something. Other wise it would be good to shut it off everytime till restarted, that would be better on the radio it seems.

Joe, I have that same one in my truck. I put it in the end of November and I love it. I've never had that issue though. It does come on when I turn the key. Then when I start it after the GPR cycles, the radio cuts out then back on. It has never taken more than like 2-3 seconds though, like a normal power up. I did speakers at the same time and just added a sub yesterday. I'm gonna order the HD box this week and the back up camera soon. Then I'll add the nav unit when funds allow.
