fuel gauge problems

fuel gauge problems

2001 navigator, 160k miles. fuel gauge was acting up for the last couple of months, but now it is completely wrong on the dash. it reads empty and low fuel light is on at all times even with a full tank...

can anyone help me as to where i would begin to fix this?

From: location, location

if it stays on empty i'd guess you have a bad ground somewhere. I'd start there as it's the cheapest place to start

It's more than likely your fuel level sensor.

oil light comes on until truck warms up then goes away everytime, coolant light is figgity too... i wonder if all of this could be related?

It's consistent with a bad ground, as 'I fish' has already pointed out.

does anyone know where the ground for all this stuff may be? is there a common one? im used to working on my mustang and f150 these lincolns have a whole lot more going on.
