Sounds like your ip might be taking a big ol' s@#t on you. How many miles are on the truck? Does the pump and injectors look original? i.e. gray paint? Are the return lines gray as well? I'm assuming when you say its a fuel problem that the truck cranks well, crack the shrader valve at the filter head and make sure you are getting fuel to the ip, but with the low mileage it sounds like the ip. Check out u-haul for a lower price then you will find everywhere else, 274 IIRC is what i payed for mine. I would strongly suggest doing injectors as well, they can be had from pensicola diesel for about 108bucks for a set

If when hot. Turn of engine. Put cool water on IP. If you start right up then the IP went south. Replace both IP and injectors at the same time as they are probably worn badly also.

According to your profile you have 250K miles. As stated before if the injectors and pump are painted gray. You have original equipment. So replacement is warranted.

Also check the fuel pump on the block as it will be badly worn and not giving enough fuel volume to the IP.

Sounds like the ip is way overdue for a change, Normal life is about 160,000mi on the high end, the injectors may be there also. The two different ones I'm going to venture to guess were found to be bad enough to affect the way the truck ran and were replaced. If it doesn't idle under a 1/4 tank the pickup tube in the tank may have cracked and its sucking air.

x2 on this and the Uhaul supplied pump. Pensacola's quality seems to be hit and miss with alot of their stuff. I've purchased their injectors and had no issues out of them while others have also bought from them and it turns out their injectors were junk right out of the box.
