When I bought my 2000 Expedition, I turned the auto door locks (the ones that lock the doors at a certain speed) off as explained in the owners manual. Now, when I try to turn them on (for my wife) they will not come back on. Please help!
The dealer can also turn the autolock on and off with their NGS or WDS scanner. You might need to try that.
The procedure to do it manually is as follows in case anyone is wondering..........
The enable/disable mode can be entered manually using the following procedure.
To change the programming for Autolock or Personality settings, the procedure must be followed to the end. The Autolock and Personality programming can be changed independently. After completing either Autolock or Personality enable/disable, the next enable/disable procedure may be completed before programming mode is exited.
To enter programming mode, steps 1 through 8 must be carried out within 30 seconds.
Close all doors.
Make sure the ignition switch is in the OFF position.
Turn the ignition switch from OFF to RUN.
Press the door lock control switch to UNLOCK three times.
Turn the ignition switch from RUN to OFF.
Press the door lock control switch to UNLOCK three times.
Turn the ignition switch from OFF to RUN.
Verify the RAP module chirps the horn. This indicates that the RAP module is now in the enable/disable mode and ready to accept program changes.
To Enable/Disable Autolock
Press the door lock control switch to the UNLOCK position. (This selects the Autolock programming mode.)
Press the door lock control switch to the LOCK position. (This changes the current state of Autolock to either enable or disable.)
To confirm the Autolock change of state, the RAP module will chirp the horn. If the chirp is followed by a long horn blast, Autolock was just enabled. If no blast follows the chirp, then Autolock was just disabled.
I tried this code again with the same response, no horn chirp. I also tried to turn the belt minder off, and it did not work either, this leads me to believe that for some reason the computer will not let me enter programming mode now. Any suggestions or thoughts?
I dont think there is anything in the GEM that either enables or disables the programming mode.
Your dealer can try hooking up their NGS and see if they get any trouble codes....you could have a faulty GEM module.
i finally got it to work by using the keypad on the door,
i entered the code, then you hold down the 7/8, and press and release 3/4. i believe 2 honks means that the system is on and 1 beep means the system is off. I found this on another post on this board if anyone needs it.
I have an '03, and had no problem disabling autolock as describer by Racerguy.
Anyone know if it's possible to disable the auto interior lights on after you turn off ignition & remove key?
And one more - with Ford factory remote start, is there a way to disable the horn chip when remote starting? I leave at 5:30am and my neighbor is not happy with the horn beep every morning.
Sorry I can't answer your question about the lights. Have you looked through your owner's manual?
As for your remote starter I believe that would be a dealer installed item. If you contact the dealer they may be able to help you. I would assume there is a wire connected to the horn that could just be disconnected. I dont think I've ever seen one that the horn chirps when starting....usually the park lights go on but thats it.
