I have a noise coming from somewhere that sounds like bearings. Its not squealing or anything, just sounds like marbles rolling around in a can. I think its my wheel bearings but I am questioning my u-joints. A few weeks ago I replaced all my u-joints and carrier. While putting them in I dropped one of the new caps and thought I still had all the needle bearings still in it. After all said and done and a week later, I found one clean shiny needle bearing laying on the floor where I dropped the new cap. I am not 100% sure it is from the new u-joints or just one from the old u-joints. IF I do have a new greased u-joint that is missing one needle bearing, will it start making a fairly loud rattling noise right away or will it stay quite until it starts wearing out or gets dry?
I could be wrong but I think you won't hear it, but probably feel it if anything. Grab that U-joint and see if there is play in it now. Jack the truck up in the front and see if you have play in the wheels.
I think you are involved in what I am, front Hub Assembly. I was hearing this for weeks before I jacked my truck up and felt the front wheel move around. It went quick as a month ago the wheel hub was tight. Jack your truck up and check the front wheels today.
