Newegg is a great online electronics site - order with confidence. I did try to find a CB locally, any CB but they are difficult to finds in stores; even Radio Shack. The answer is truck stops as they carry just about everything imaginable for CB radios. I bought my mounting bracket and 4' fiberglass tunable antenna from a TravelAmerica truck stop. Both are Firestik brand and very good quality.
4 of those radios were the primary brands 35 years ago.
Today's Cobra 29 is very similar to the original very desirable 29.
So who remembers changing crystals to add or remove channels?
I don't have a CB anymore, but I did add a VHF under the dash. I'll have to take some pics of the mounting location.
I wish I remember what model I had back then. I remember buying a SWR meter to tweak the antennae, buying a power mic and having only 23 channels to play with. I also remember my call sign and my handle -- any guesses? (MARAUDER)!
I also remember something about side bands and linear amps. If I get back into it, I'll have to dig up all that nomenclature and figure out what it does again.
Great install, alas I have the bench seat with fold down center that would not work here. need to find a place to install mine yet (as well as a antenna mount)

"Rocketsled"
Yeah SWR meters, D104 mics, sidebands, linear amps (still have one). Cobra 29 was my first CB
I have a kind of silly "Bare Facts Guide To CB Radio" from 1976.
Has some equipment pictures of the gear of the day modeled with - "you guessed it" bare models.
Many gratiitus boobie shots that were the from of the mid 70's with various CB equipment.
Want to find a CB with all the controls in the mike. No console here so still have to find a place to mount. I like magnetic mount antennas so I can take it off when I am not towing.....

That's what I have now and may just move it to the new truck. I kind of wanted something I could plug head phones into when I am the only one listening to it, but this one works pretty well.
