Ok, e-250, 2005, fuel pump not making the whirring sound when you turn the key. So we replaced the fuel pump. Still nothing. And yes, we looked at all the fuses, tested (then jumped) the relay, and nothing. Ran a hot wire right to the wiring that goes into the fuel pump, a little draw, but no whirring. The dash says "check gauges" yet all the gauges work. The wrench light is on now, and it wasn't before. I've tried everything. I almost wonder if the fuel pump shut off thngy is bad. Please tell me you have an idea.. or three. Thanks in advance.

 

Oh by the way, when the truck died, it was driving down the highway at 70mph and it was like you shut the key off.

 

Could you check the fuel presure somehow, it may not be making all of those fun noises because you dont need fuel. You may need spark, in that case we would want to look at the cam position sensor, or crank. Not sure which the 5.4 has.

 

Never thought of that - If nothing else I can bleed off pressure at the schrader valve to see if the pump turns on.
