I Need Help With Tires!

So I need some help picking out some new tires for my 95 F150. I have kind of narrowed it down to two options.

My first tires of choice are the BFG All Terrains. I have heard plenty of good things about these tires and I really like their tread life.

My second tires of choice are the new Mickey Thompson STZs. These tires look very nice but they are new and I have not heard anything about them yet.

I was wondering if you all have any advice for me to help me make my decision. Does Mickey Thompson make good tires? Will they last as long as the All Terrains?

Here is my truck.

Thanks a lot.

If you don't mind re-treads there's always the cheaper option of treadwright.com. That's the way I'll be going. They're only an hour from me and I know my uncle runs them on his ranch.

Thought I'd throw it out there as an extra option if you hadn't considered them.

I never cared much for them either.

I suggest checking out the review for goodyear duratracs. I read forever on them try to find SOMETHING negative, but no luck. Seems they have made the perfect tire, or hired the CIA to elimintate all opposition Anyway, I've pretty much decided on trying those next. I agree with others, wear on the BFG's are good, but traction leaves a little to be desired. There are plenty of newer designs out there.

I second that have a friend who swears by the duratracs says they are an amazing tire.

Ive got almost two years on a set mastercraft courser c/t's: almost no highway noise, they have been a great offroad/winter tire, very durable sidewalls, no issues with pressure change summer to winter, and they are still around 3/4 tread with daily driving.

I would get the BFG ATs. Thats what my truck always gets when its time for tires. I run 31 10.50s. I do not agree about the comment about wet traction. They do great in the rain. Perhaps that was directed to the older non KO ATs that didn't have siping.

I have a Treadwright 31 10.50 as a spare, and it looks like its made pretty well. There was a thread on here a while back about them, and they seem to get good comments.

An similar alternative to the BFG A/T is the General Grabber AT2, little bit cheaper, pretty common tire

I am a big fan of the BFG A/T KO. Low road noise, great water/rain traction (IMHO), great snow traction, excelent wear life, good enough off road traction, and they look cool (raised white lettering out).

I have always had good luck with the bfg at ko's. There's a reason they haven't changed the tread design on them in forever, they work! Only time I have ever had problems with wet traction is when they are almost to the wear bar. I think the bottom of the tread is a harder rubber than the top 3/4. Seems like you get down to a 1/16 of tread left and they just quit wearing but get really slick.

After extensive research and limited tire options for a 275 width tire, I have Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 tires. I've normally seen them on big conversion vans. But they got me through the winter no problem, even with 2wd.

For your truck, if you like the BFG AT's but don't want to shell out the price, look up General Grabber AT/2. Great tire and cheaper. I can't say much for wear yet because my dad and brother both have not had them long enough to know the wear, but winter driving is top notch.
