This is great! I had no idea that there would be a forum for Ford Trucks, and if there were, that it would be as active as this place is!
I have been around Ford Trucks since was 6 years old (and I'm 35 now) when my dad came home in a yellow 1973(?) F150. I recall there being the word "Explorer" on the sides, close to the rear. Besides that one, he had gotten a 1979 Ranger Lariat. And, at one time, he and my mom had early 90's Explorer Sports (edited to clarify: they had one each).
I have had a 1981 F150, a 1985 F150, and now I have a 2001 F150 and my wife drives a Windstar.
I have been thinking recently of aquiring a working used 1980's F150 or 250 as a project.
At any rate, I look forward to gleaning information from the experts here, having some conversation, and maybe being able to contribute some of my knowledge (limited as it is).
Couldn't agree more, nothing lame at all about that introduction. I always like hearing from our new folks, especially when they tell about their Fords and Ford roots.
Well, I have to admit (and I really hate to do this)... in the eighties, I fell into the "anti-Ford" trap. But, meeting my wife in 1993 completely changed that. Her dad is an extreme Fordman. He has owned nothing but Fords since the 50's. Currently, he has a mid 90's 1 ton custom van with a Powerstroke Diesel, along with a 1993 Ford Crown Vic and an 87 Mercury Cougar... all of his vehicles are white (so is my wife's Windstar)
