My cab is now to just the medal. There is no windows, dash, or anything on the firewall, and me and my friend can pick it up and we are both 15. So I am sure the way you are thinking will work really good.

I would not use the undercoating! With all the road vibrations, it starts to fall of and moisture gets between it and the medal and rusts it out. I don't think you want that...

Got a bit more of work done today. Did a bit more body work, than decided to work on getting the cab ready to remove. Got the speakers in the doors taken out, than got both doors removed. Than proceeded to remove the rest of the interior.

Cabs pretty bare now, just have to remove stuff coming from the firewall.

Its all going pretty smoothely so far. Even though i'd imagine this is the easy part! But im enjoying myself, and very very anxious to keep working on it.

I'm thinking of more a proffessional spray undercoating. Not just cheap-o cans you buy at rural king.

Ones they do to cars at the dealership. That type should hold up pretty well. But painting it would be cheaper.

Use the stuff from home depot like 2.99 a can. Its a light black dark brown type color. Its thicker than paint, but not like a rhinoline type. Works great.

Oh okay my bad.

I have been talking to a guy that has been restoring cars for 30 something years, and he just told me to do the bottom of the body in gloss black rustolium paint. I'm pretty sure the Por-15 stuff is better and would protect pretty well.

As long as you pay attention to what the can says as far as prep goes and do the por15 the "right way", you will come out with a great product! What you are doing as far as wire wheeling is great, just don't go too far with it. Just make sure you get anything loose off. There are threads and threads of guys arguing about how much prep you do or don't need to do for it. Make sure you at least get a chemical cleaner, or there's(which is called marine clean I believe) to make sure you get any kind of oil's off of the surface before you paint it. I did about 3/4's of my frame, and we sprayed it. They suggest diluting some if necessary, but I didn't need to. I did two coats with one quart, and I believe I ended up tossing some. I have second quart that I already purchased. Por15 also suggests using their chassis black paint to go over it while the por15 is still tacky. I didn't do it because for the most part what I read was that the por15 will fade if exposed to uv's. It's a frame paint, so I wasn't too worried. If there is anything I am off on, I am sure somebody will chime in, and I probably missed something as well, but that is all my experience with it. I wouldn't see any problem using it as an undercoating as well. Especially if you have some left over from painting the frame.
