96 f-150 6 cyl. with automatic hubs. Hubs will not lock in. Light on dash says 4x4 is working. Is it possible to bypass or manually turn hubs in? Supposed to snow tomorrow. Have appt. at Ford garage on Monday. Need help
I agree with honney on this one. Replace your hubs with manuals. I heard a good set of Warn's should be less than 80 bucks. My auto hubs are still good, but i am replacing them with manuals next month.
Yeah! What they said. Replace those junky auto hubs w/a good set of Warn Lock-outs. My wife bought a set for me 3 yrs. ago for Christmas-one of the best gifts I ever got. Never had a minutes trouble w/them. My only regret is that I didn't wise up sooner; I went through 3 factory auto replacements before getting these. My left front went out 3 times and cost me $50 each time (ext. warranty deductible) to have replaced. Warns are easy to install too. I installed both in less than 45 min. Good luck.
Thanks all, I think I will go with manual hubs and do it my self. Dealer wants $621.00 to replace autos with autos, they also want $600.00 to replace autos with manuals. Is there a good manual for Ford trucks that will help with my task.
