Fuel pump?

I was sitting here thinking that my Injection Pump was bad, but after looking into the whole thing, I think it's my fuel pump.

I cracked a few of my injector lines, and cranked the motor, No flow.
I cracked the feed line to the IP, a few spurts, then no flow.
I cracked the line from the fuel pump to the filter assembly......no flow.

I was running a bit low on battery, so idk if that has anything to do with it, but do YOU think it could be my Fuel Pump?

I also keep hearing this thumping sound from the intake.......is that normal?

There should be no thumping sound from the intake....It sounds like your lift pump is done in, replace that then get back to us haha.

Are all the wires hooked up to the IP? Did you check your oil level, seals could have ruptured in the lift pump and dumped fuel in your oil.

Put your batteries on the charger tonight and then in the morning crack the valve on the top of the fuel filter head. you should get fuel to come out of that in just a couple cranks. If you get no fuel you can get a 5 gallon fuel can and run a piece of fuel line from the input side of the pump to the fuel can and try again, this will test the stuff in your tank, if you get fuel now it could be a clogged or fallen off pick up tube ect. if you still get no fuel i would bet your pump. How much fuel is in your tank?

I'll have to charge them tomorrow, I don't have my charger here atm, I have 1/4 tank in the front, and 1/8 in the rear, I was on my way to the fuel station when the truck completely died.

Now, if it is my pickup tube.......how the heck do I repair/replace that?
I've never really been in that far yet.

All wires are connected properly, and I've made sure of such, I checked the oil, and I was a 1.5qts low (she's never burned/leaked any like this before) and have since replenished the oil.

Your pickup tube involves dropping whichever tank had its tube fall inside. I would go get some fuel for the front tank, and some for the rear, which tank were you running on when it died? Cause it would make sense for the pickup tube to be missing and to have the engine die when it fell off.

The thumping from the intake and the oil being 1.5 qts low is pointing to either a blown head gasket or something or you might be loosing an oil control ring on one of your pistons. How often does it do the thumping? Is the thumping on time with the RPMS of your engine?

Fill her up, I never thought of that. Mine wont start with 1/4 in the front, so i just keep her over 1/2 and am happy.

I would get more fuel in the tanks for sure. I might try the fuel can trick first because if you do have to drop you tank it will be a PITA full of fuel. I actually prefer to pull the bed rather than drop the tank. I am still betting on a bad fuel pump though.
