Can anyone tell me where I can find the test connection to pull the codes from the abs module in an '87 F-150? The Haynes manual says it's in the mess of wires next to the parking brake, but I can't seem to find it. Thanks in advance. If you need more info than that, let me know.
It's only about a year old, but I dunno. I'll check that out. According to the haynes book, there were two versions of rear abs. the rabs II was behind the glove box (I looked there, and couldn't find anything) and the rabs I is to the right of the gas pedal. I'm gonna look around under the dash today. Thanks for the response.
If your Haynes has a blue cover, it's the newest with all the revisions (but some deletions from the red cover ). It tells how to distinguish between RABS & RABS II, but I don't remember the clues - maybe PN of the module?
I've found the module...it's rabs I. I still have no idea where the test connector is. I'm gonna go by my mechanic's later on today to see if he knows where it is.
It's in the big main wiring harness coming off the big white round connector at the firewall above the bright switch beside the e-barke pedal. The connector is black or very dark brown with a heavy Bk/Or wire.
Ok, I found it and can ground it, but the light just stays on, it doesn't flash. I'm gonna check all the wiring in the abs because I think there is a bad connection somewhere. I say this because the abs functions normally when it rains, but when it dries out, the light comes back on.
Look in the vicinity of the L rear leaf spring where the e-brake cables attach to the bottom of the frame. The ABS sensor wires are supposed to be clipped to the R cable up to that point, where they go into the L frame rail. If they're hanging, they could have been snagged & bared anywhere.
