i changed the oil in my mazda 5 speed when i did my clutch last week. someone had told me that it takes 4 quarts of atf. i put in 4 quarts of valvoline fully synthetic atf. ever since then, its been smelling like tranny fluid every time it gets warm. i was just skipping through my chiltons manual and it says that the m50d takes 7.6 quarts. could i have done any damage by running it 3.6 quarts low? i put about 300 miles on it like that. that probably explains why it smells.
sorry for the delayed response, but i wasnt using the truck for a few days. i finally got around to checking the trans fluid. i went to put in another quart but it was already filled to the hole. i read my manual wrong. thanks for clearing it up!
