79 f250 steering

I am evidently in need of a steering box for a 79 250 supercab 4x4. I was cruising down the road and lost most of my power steering. I can tell it is trying to work a little.
So far, I have jacked the truck up and turned the wheel....no better
ensured proper fluid level and belt tension
intalled a reman pump....no better
greased entire frontend...no better
ensured hubs are unlocked and case is in 2wd
The only thing I can think of is a blown seal inside the box. I added some fluid a week ago(1/3 pint) now this. I was actually going straight when it happened. I seems slightly better turning to the right than the left.
Any ideas? Never had anything like this happen. Thanks in advance.

You haven't adjusted the steering box and over-tightened it, have you? I've seen them get tight like that, even lock, from over-tightening.

No, I have not touched the steering box. I bought it with 64,000 miles and it now has 70,000 miles on it and all I have done is regular PM. Thanks.

I've had this broblem with a few fleet trucks. Replace the gearbox and problem fixed.

I would put a gauge in the high psi line and see whats going on before doing anything. Rebuild kits are cheep. I'd fix what I have because you probably aren't going to get a good used one, even if you find one I'd still rebuild it before putting it in.
