Question

I know its a strange thing to think about considering the recent heat wave, but I cant help to wonder about a block heater for this winter. Our average January temps here are apparently around 32f, but its not at all unusual to have a few weeks of lows in the teens. It looks like they're not that expensive so Im just wondering if it would be worth the money to put in a block heater. Truck is a '79 F150, 351m. Thanks.

I think its more of a personal preferance really. Here in iowa the lows in the winter drop down in the single digits and below zero and i never had a problem starting my 76 F150 with a 390 or my 79 bronco with a 400 but my dad used to have one in his 76 F250. So to each their own .

Im not worried about starting, Id just like to decrease the warmup time if possible. I know there will be mornings when Im running late that I dont want to wait 5 or 10 minutes to let it warm up.

Well, from experience with my dads truck, i still had to let it warm up. i would go out, start it and then run back in to let it warm up. Didnt notice much differance.
