Ok guys... got another one for you. I wanna insulate my interior! I love my truck, but gosh it's loud in there. No comments about my lack of a muffler, alright? That's not the bulk of the noise here. So, I could do it up with Dynamat but that stuff's WAY to expensive! I've heard of peel and seal, but it's asphalt-based and not only does it smell, but it runs when it get's hot. I read that Dynamat and the other good ones are a butyl rubber, not asphalt. I can buy butyl aluminum tape and it's supposedly just about as good as Dynamat... y'all got any info, opinions, experience, ideas, whatever? Interior is getting redone soon so I'd like to do this while it's gutted. Thanks, guys!
and some padding they sell over the deadening layer but under the carpet
Less expensive than Dynamat but still butyl based (plan on wearing some old clothes you don't mind throwing away if you do this.)
Nice pictures! Did you notice a big difference? I'm gonna be stuffing my weather stripping as well, but I really dislike the road noise... can't even talk on the phone! Most of it comes from my doors and cab rear, but everything is gonna get completely covered... roof, doors, and floor. Reps to you!
I was afraid you were going to ask that. It seems like I ordered 2 rolls for my truck. I did the floor, back wall, inside the doors, and an extra layer anywhere on the floor that sounded kind of tinny when I thumped on it. I ended up with some left over but not quite half a roll so I believe I ordered another 2 for the wife. After doing the same on hers I've got close to a half roll left. It's been a couple of years so I'm not 100% sure on this other than the fact that I still have some left over.
Get out a tape measure and take some rough measurements instead of taking my word for it. As for the difference. Yes I noticed it when I first put it in. It's not like it was night and day difference, but I was able to turn the radio down a notch and still hear it. The stuff in the doors helps the speakers sound better too.
I wouldn't expect it to solve your problem by itself, but I think it would be one step as part of the fix.
