What Did You Learn To Drive In?
I learned in my dads 76 F100 IL6 300 three on the tree. He started me off on it when I was 10 years old. Man I'll never forget the first release of that clutch, I didn't even stall it but I did manage to rip up about 30 ft of lawn at our cottage.
Down the cottage road we went..... watching my rpms, keeping it out of the bush, waving to my cousins and uncle as we passed their cottage, my dad taking me through those 3 gears telling me to relax and enjoy the ride ( heck I sure could of used one of those beers he was sippin on). Dad even asked if I wanted to hear a little music he turned on the am.... we only got 1 station in, in that neck of the woods it was the first time I'd ever heard "Someday never comes" by CCR. We rolled the backwoods for about an hour "I'll never forget that day"
Then when I was 15 he sold me that truck for $800 I held on to it for a few years then sold it, and put the money into a Harley. I loved that bike but sure wished I didn't sell that truck.
I guess some things never change My son learned in an 88 Bronco at the age of 10, and my daughter at the age of 10 in that same Bronco.
Thanks for the great thread Matta, It's nice to remember

If you mean really drive (not just steering) that would be a 1973 VW Thing (jeep like, removeable windows, doors etc) I was 10 years old and could fan a clutch like no other 10 year old.
I wish I still had that Thing, I saw one the other day selling for $10,000. Ours was the German version, not the one made in Mexico during the later years.

What Did You Learn To Drive In?
At the age of 14 my parents gave me a 1980 Chevy Nova 2 Dr my older brother had blown the motor in. I spent the next 2 years cuttin grass and delivering papers. I got a used 350 for next to nothin and with the help of a family friend who tinkered with cars I rebuilt it. We put a tunnel ram on top and 2 600 cfm Holley carbs. You should have seen the test administrator's eyes when i pulled up to take the driving test. About 1 year and 3 transmissions later, i pulled the motor, sold it to a guy who was puttin it in a Model T and junked the car. Quite a first car.
