okay so my 1967 ford F-100 shortbed doesnt have any turn signals at all... but when my emergency flashers is on my front driver side flashes but not the passenger side but on the rear the passenger flashes and not the driver side,..... but on to my tailight problem i only has one brake light which is the passenger rear but when i turn my park lights on they both will come on but only one lights up when you hit the brakes.. Im 16 and almost out of school for summer and im gonna tear into and try to figure it out but i wondering if anyone had any advice?!
check your bulbs first some bulbs have double elements and will burn with one element say for brakes or flashers but not turn signals or vica versa. they will sometimes act wierd is what im getting at. so first thing is check the bulbs both elements in the doubles and then go to the relays then last would be wiring . probably not the wiring though unless someone has modafied it or spliced it or replaced your fuse with a nail or something like that.
I was going to suggest wiring if the bulbs were good, my 71 had a wire ground out and it did all kinds of funky stuff, or possibly even you signal switch in your column, my 68 had some problems with that
Kid, Let's get you some basic training going on. Your 4 way flasher uses the same wiring circuit as the reg. turn signal flasher.
On the rear the brake light shares the same wire and bulb filament as the turn signal/4 way.
There are only 3 wires delivering current to the rear of the truck.
1- is tail light/license plate
2- one each for brake light and flashing
I find a circuit tester like this helps me find hot wires and hot bulb sockets. They are fairly inexpensive, and suggest you get one to help along the way.
okay thanks for help and at the rear of my truck it did have a trailer hook up wired in when i got it but i already cut it out and spliced my wires back in according to a diagram i had... but it seems like it gonna be a nice day so im gonna go check the bulbs and see where it gooes from there
okay so i checked my tailights and my left rear the socket that holds my bulb is cracked and the bulb just kinda sits in it, its not tight like the other side.... would that cause some of my problems too??

Would that cause some of my problems too?? Absolutly...if the bulb is loose in the socket, the contact will be wishy-washy at best.

Ford did not sell just the bucket's socket, but a "universal" may be available at autoparts stores.
