took a little drive last weekend and the alt. locks up and melts the belt, have a good battery so cut the belt and drove home, go to pull the alt off and what do you know the thru bolt is frozen, well this means put a little cheater pipe on the ratchet, BUT stupid me wants to get an extra click and pushes on the uppper radiator hose over and over an over, well after finially getting the alt. replaced guess where my radiator leaks? good thing i love this truck
Projects wouldn't take near as long if I didn't have to keep going back and fixing things I messed up along the way
Yep...shot some primer yesterday on one door and I decided to thin with laquer thinner cause I have the wrong gun to shoot the primer, and I now have a nice crackle finish primer on that door where the solvent flashed off too fast.....lol.....well I LOVE sanding with my da for hours, so guess what I will doing next?
and here i thought it was just me, every little project brings on another seems i have a land boat - hole on pavment that i throw money in, dont think i have left the auto parts store for less than $45
The joys of driving old stuff!!!!!!!!!!! If ya didnt love it ya wouldnt do it. I replaced all the suspension bushings and springs in the front end of my 78 F150 4x4 yesterday only to find I had a worn out ujoint in the front driveline. Guess thats where my vibration in 4 wheel drive was coming from!!!!!!!! Oh well, gonna replace both ujoints today............just one more thing off of "the list".............................

one way to think of it, you couldnt own a new car for 45 bucks a month now could ya?

Well, so far I have put at LEAST as much per month into the 78 as what a new truck payment would have been. But one thing about it, In two years total it should be completed and completely paid for. And it will be four times the truck that a new F150 would be and probably worth more than a new one would be by the time I had a new one paid off. Plus it will be built the way I want it, not the way the local Ford dealer oredered it in. And I will drive it till Im dead....................................because it will be something that I can maintain and repair. Not like the new ones that start costing you $1000 here and a $1500 there about the time the warranty is up......................
what started with a new carb ended up as full gasget redo minus heads. repainted every part that came off. but now it will be clean to work on from now on lol. try that on your 07 f 150
lol. been there done that with other parts i R&R'd. That's when i sit back with a frosty home brew and remind myself that it's paid off and still cheaper than paying someone to do the job for me. Good luck and keep truckin'.
I just got my truck and I have always wanted one, my truck is 8yrs older than me and Ive wanted one since I was 8yrs old, finaly im 24yrs old and got one...79 ford F-250 supercab!!!!! It needs alot of work! It wont let me post pics below or I would. It needs p/s pump shocks all the way around, brakes all the way around, some new wheels Im thinkin the wheels off a 2003 ford 4wd F-250. The bed is destroyed, both bumpers are bent up, the paint is terrible, I realize i have a long way to go to get it the way i want it. But when i get it done its gunna be paid for and cheeper than buying a new one and has way more style.
sorry bout your luck man, I was changing the a/c compressor on my truck several years ago ( with the motor hot no less) and let the ratchet slip and straight through my radiator it went, blowing hot antifreeze all over me and the truck lol.

Just so you know 2003 F250 wheels won't fit your truck because Super Duty wheels have metric bolt pattern
Crap!!!!! Way to ruin my day evam350!!!! hhahaah that sux Ill have to find some pre 1997 wheels. 1997 wheels may work. Thanx for the info that could have been bad buy.

LOL! That's pretty true about never leaving the store... I always end up spending at least $40 on something...
