Rotated my tires the other day because I thought they were cupping really bad causing the ssshhhakes. But now when I go around a slight bend around 45 MPH the steering wheel shakes like crazy and the ol' palm shaker is more like an arm shaker. Sometimes I feel it grab and really whip if you turn it past the shaking position.
Its really hard to describe I know, it feels like im just getting some serious wobble when i turn, I dont think its related to the tires. I think its got more to do with the front steering stabilizer.
Had similar problems with original tires..Generals.. They were cupping badly on the front...with noise. Switched them for Michelins LTX's... about 3 years ago... problem solved..
First, it is probably not the SS. Second, jack up one wheel at a time and give a pull on the tire by gripping the top and bottom to see if you have any movement. If you do a ball joint needs replacing. Make sure your lug nuts a torqued right. Next you will want to have a friend start the truck and turn the wheel back and forth while you look at your tie rods and drag link, looking for excessive play. Roy
