It can breathe!

So I finally went and had the muffler cut out and all I can say is WOW! It sounds awesome! I still have the factory 3.5" pipe but still seem to notice a SLIGHT power gain. A couple of hills where the truck normally downshifts it seems to chug right on through now. Hopefully I'll get a little better fuel mileage? Maybe it's all in my noggin but darned if it doesn't make me giggle anyway. So far I can live with the very slight drone too. I don't pull anything heavy either (trailer and all equipment probably weighs between 2000 to 4000 lbs.) so it's not as pronounced as most of you guys would experience while pulling RVs and such. Anyway, happy rumbling! (and whistling!)

Breathing in is just as important as breathing out. Highly recommend an aftermarket intake filter i.e. 6637 filter.

I'm still kicking myself in the ****, for buying a $300 FIPK, when all i needed was a 4in X 4in exhaust tube and a 30 dollar 6637 from Clay.

After I did my muffler deleate, I couldn't stop rolling down the back window every time I was near a wall or overpass. Wife would just roll her eyes. Need to start acting my age.

He he he. I've been doing the same thing! It bounces off the side of a big rig too.

I just sawzalled the muffler off, I'm going to try a straight thru muffler though, maybe it sounds better with a tailpipe ?

Yep, I've only had my stock '02 F250 for 2 months now and the muffler delete was my first "mod" ... really not too much louder but as you said, but it does seems to move a little easier accelerating down the road ... and I now hear the turbo spinning down when I turn it off...I'm 51 and this diesel has brought out some of the kid in me too - I like it!

mtdigger, the muffler shop just cut my muffler out and welded in a straight pipe leaving the tail pipe in place ... seems that it would create less droning in the cab with a tail pipe as opposed to exhausting under the truck without one ... just depends on what you want to hear I guess ....
