I have 98 e150 van with V6 and i would like to install v8
my queston is what would be the easy way to do it? Could i buy 98 mustang 5.0 and use the computor and harness for complete swap?
My opiniion would be to get a 98 F150 V8 engine and install it it is fast easy and to the point. the mustang 5.0l would have trouble moving the van and get the worst miles per gallon possible. My other idea is to find a wrecked 98 E150 with a V8 engine pull the motor cut the motor mounts off of your E150 and the parts one and put it in. Also do you know if you are to put the V8 engine into a van with a V6 engine you will need to get a transmission for a V8 because of a diffrent bolt pattern I ran into that when putting a 454 Chevy engine into my brothers 1985 G20 sportvan with a 305 Tranny.

I fix my brothers' and Sister's trucks and we use the parts trucks for all of us.

Well, to start off, there were no '98' 5.0L Mustangs. Best to find the same year Explorer motor with all the engine wiring and computer. Not sure how that would wire into your chassis but normally not much of a problem, two seperate systems. Maybe best also to look at the V-8 from the same year F-150, that would probably be easier.

One big thing doing engine swaps into/out-of E-series vans, make sure you get the right oil pan. The E-series often used a different oil pan (AND OIL PICKUP) than the pickup trucks (and passenger cars sometimes) because of the cross-member.
