I am not sure where to start, but are you aware that they are a set of of brakes located under the back rotors?

If I am babbling, please excuess me, the effects of last night seem to be slow to wear off.

Yeah I kind of figured that there was some thing behind the rotor but can't seem to get the rotor off so I'm going to get a rubber hammer and smack it a few times but once I get that far I have no idea what I need to do to adjust it or replace stuff on it

I've never had to deal with parking brakes till now

Nope. They can be adjusted thru a plug on the back of the backing plate. Use a brake spoon or a screwdriver. IIRC you have to spin it up. It's a star wheel just like on drum brakes. They just don't self adjust like regular drum brakes.

But to replace the shoes I would have to pull the hub apart ?

Can some one post up a pick of the cover I need to remove to get at the adjuster screw please?

Now that part IS correct. Try to adjust them first though. Mine would go to the floor and with just a little adjustment it was spot on.

It is the little plug below the axle tube, and in front of the caliper bracket...

When I finally decided that I needed to give the parking brakes a little help it became clear that adjusting wasn't going to help. I turned and turned and there was nothing. So I ended up pulling the hubs and getting em fixed. Pretty easy actually. Read what you can here and you'll have all the information you need. I also used a Chilton book that was a great help. By the way, you will need a special tool to get the hub off, but not a big expense at all. Got mine at the local auto parts store for under $20.

No, the plug just pops off caliper untouched. If you notice the smell of gear oil on the plug or around it your rear wheel seals need to be replaced. If you need to change the shoes though, the seals get replaced anyway!
