my exhaust manifolds shot wodering if theres an aftermarket header fo a 300 straight six rock auto has the original header for 177.00 seeing as im gonna spend that much may as well get something different
you can find alot of aftermarket headers for that engine. go to the muffler shop and ask them if they would make coustom ones for ya. it might be more than you expect, so if you dont want to spend alot go and ask them if they can order any for you. If I were you I would just go to a scrap yard and get some replacements. very cheap.
Why spend that much when for about $120 less you can get EFI dual exhaust manifolds? I run these on my truck, they produce better power than headders (as can be confirmed by chas1234), they are quiet, but best of all they are cheap.
better than headers? and they are quiet? How are they better and if they make these, then why do they make headers? And quiet.... I dont know about all of you but I like the sound of my truck, especialy when siting in the drive through and them telling me that I ned to shut off my truck because they cant hear what im saying....
Go to the bottom of the Inline Six site to where you see "page -1"
Go back through the last couple of pages (try page 2 first). You'll find some good info there on 300-6 headers... pricing, sources...
You can get a lot more info by changing the selections in the solid blue line just above the page selection. Try switcing the sort by to "thread title", in "ascending order" from the "last year" or "beginning". You'll find everything listed alphabetically (after the posts which begin with numbers). Keep jumping pages 'til you get to "headers"
If you'll give a bit more info on your vehicle it will help. There are a lot of options from EFI exhaust to several header manufacturers for most of the 300 - sixes. I asked the same question myself recently and got this from Whittey:
(Makers of) Headers (for the 300-6): Clifford, MAC, Dynomax,Pacesetter, Hedman, and Hooker.
Jegs.com has several makes but few for the 300-6. Cliffordperformance.com has some great pic's, but goodluck getting any info out of them...
jcwhitney has some headers
I've seen summitraceing.com listed as a source for the Hedmans, but couldn't find them there myself, maybe I was a bit tired...
You mentioned Rock - I think I saw the EFI cast manifolds in there for about $150. I think it's '87 - '96 f150 that will work for most 300-6's but I'm not positive.
the clifford stuff will scare you as far as price, im getting a set of thier dual 2 1/4" headers and a 4bbl intake and stuff and its going to be costing me just over a grand. So if you dont have cash to burn stay away from clifford otherwise www.cliffordperformance.com
I've got an '82 Bronco with stock distributer. Have you upgraded yours? If so with what, would you do anything differently and for how much? I liked the '82 in the first place because ( as I understand it) it was the last year for simplicity.
Were you able to get any specs from Clifford on what headers they have for the 300- 6 ?
What carb are you going to go with?
As you may have noticed from my posts, I'm thinking of following the same path...
well i just got my order placed from clifford.
I bought the 33" long dual headers for my truck and im probly going whith a large 2bbl carb (was going to go 4bbl but they dont make the plate for them as of yesterday). Im looking at about a 380-400 cfm pregresive carb for it. Im buying/ordering it from schucks tomaow after school.
The power upgrade from this set up is about 25%, so my 300-6 should be making around 150hp and 263TQ at around 2000rpm(this is just an estimate). My order for the headers intake and 2bbl plate come to $665 whith shipping.
Ill let you know how well the install goes and how much better the truck runs when im done.
Hey Dillon,
I was wondering how your truck is on take-off. I mean with the 33" tires, 3.00 gears, and 4 speed? I am installing 3.54 gears with 35" tires.
well i havnt been able to get the tires on it or the power upgrades, but right after i had my motor bored and rebuilt, i was running 30s and it would about lift the left front tire. It would try realy hard but i never quite had the traction to so it would spin the tires realy good. It will be scary when i get my intake and header on it whith just 30s
I dont know exactly when im going to start running the 33s, i have yet to get my order from clifford and im not getting my tires untill i have my motor running realy well.

GO TO E-BAY AND KEEP LOOKING UNDER "300 FORD" There are always great deals on new and used 300 parts! I bought Holley390, Clifford heated carb spacer, EFI exhaust manifolds, Offenhauser 4 barrel aluminum intake, a box of jets and carb parts, and all the manuals for the above products from one guy for $350 including shipping! I then sold my original parts (including a good exhaust manifold) on E-Bay!
