2005 powerstroke F250 clunks into 2nd and third, anyone else have this problem, what should i do, i already added a additive that seemed to help but now realy bad
If it's a diesel a clunk on the 2-3 shift is normal. The clunk doesn't happen in the gas models because they use a different one way clutch. The one in the diesel clunks.
The only way to fix it is to remove the trans, tear it down, and replace the one way clutch with one from a gas model TorqShift transmission.
I've never seen one clunk into 2nd, so I can't help you with that.

why was a different one way clutch used in the diesel? does it handle more torque than the gas version? would there be any tradeoffs to changing to the gas version?
The gas version clunk was really bad so they designed a lower lash one way clutch for the gas version. It holds the same amount of torque, it just rotates less degrees before engaging, which reduces clunk.
The only downside to the gas clunk is the cost of the one way. That's why the diesel didn't get the lower lash clutch. I tried to get it in the diesel, but I lost.
