Rough start

2004 6.0 egr deleted new oil cooler last year. When I start the truck after a long period of time(overnight, or 8 hours of work) the truck runs very rough, if I don't let it warm up it has no power and shifts funny. After about two or three minutes of driving it's fine, no white smoke, no funny smells or sounds. If I let it idle for a few minutes when I start it it runs fine when I drive away.

Pretty common on a 6.0. Lots of posts in here for similar issues. mine is doing exactly like yours. You can check the Fuel Injection Control Module (FICM) voltage, fuel pressure, and glow plugs. Look in the Tech Folder for the details. likely though it's the injector(s) sticking a little when it's cold. There are some oil/fuel additives that some of the guys say can help. The late-hard shifts are part of the software strategy for the truck. And a diesel is gonna be a little down on power when it's cold. oil change intervals are important for proper operation if the injectors and some swear by full synthetic oil. Also at my last fill up, I used straight diesel (as opposed to the bio I had allways used) and my truck idles smoother sooner than it ever has (didn't help power issue though) Good luck.
