My hubby has an 89 F250 with a 4.9L with a 5 speed manual transmission. The engine blew up and he put a 4.9 out of a 92 in it. Now, it misses and acts like it is flooding out. He has checked fuel pump, filters, injectors, everything. Anyone have any ideas what we can try? Thanks for your help.
Same firing order between the 2....Have you guys checked the timing? BEWARE, they're 2 sets of marks....10* TDC, and 10* BEFORE TDC.....Just a headsup...
How is the ignition? Plugs gapped to .044"? Wires good? Dizzy cap an rotary button clean?
Thanks for your help. Allthat has been checked and rechecked, all is in excellent shape. Could it be the ECM? Are they different on the 89 and the 92? Thanks again for any and all ideas, willing to try just about anything.
Hi, it's me again. He checked everything, and everything seems to be working fine, but it is only hitting on 2 cylinders, 4 and 6. Anyone have any more ideas? Thanks
Hmmm.....Thats definantly an ignition issue.....Maybe the wires are arcing? Make sure none are laying on each other....Check the plugs...The gaps could be closed.....They have to be 0.044".....Ummmm....Hmmmm,....This is a big issue...

if it is hitting on those 2 check the firing order could have wires crossed , also check compression on engine , also pull valve cover and see if all the valves , rocker arms , push rods are moving like there suppose to ! how many miles on the newer engine and was it running before as did you actually here it run ?
Yes, it was in a 1992 Ford truck that my husband owns. He got hit and it bent the frame on the 92, but he drove it home. So it was still running great. He has done all the wire checking and compression checks, but he hasn't checked the rocker arms, etc. It was running great, hitting on all 6 when he pulled it out of the 92. Thanks for your help, we are just stymied on what could be wrong.
