Sensor sensitvity...
1996 Explorer Limited, 5.0 AWD. Time to change O2 sensors. Left upstream done - no problem. Does anyone out there have experience with the procedure to get to the other 3? Am I going to have to take out the center console, carpet, & transmission tunnel cover to get to them from above? Or will daylight, Houdini moves, and scraped knuckles do the job?

I changed the O2 sensors on my 2000 Mountaineer V8 AWD. I just remember one that was a PITA, and that was primarily due to the wiring connector. What I had to do for the wiring on that one was to essentially bear hug the transmission, feel around with my hands until I had both ends of the connector and could disconnect/reconnect it. I also had to use a low profile "sending unit" crows foot socket to get that sensor out.
In particular, what challenges are you running in to with the remaining O2 sensors (wiring, access, etc.)?

Where is the common "sense"r?
Thank you for the response. The shop manual offers no special R&R instructions. With the vehicle only up on jack stands my hands cannot reach through the narrow openings/crevices to get to the connectors for the right "upstream" or either "downstream" sensor. My attempt last noc was in the dark using only a flashlight and trouble light. I will try again in daylight today or tomorrow and keep you posted on the progress - or lack thereof.
