Exclamation 460 Swap

I have a 460 that i just bought and i plan on making it a performer motor or the mud races.. i am looking to crank out a little over 600horse with out using nos. so i am looking to find double spring valves. i am using the original heads or do i need to upgrade to something different to use performance valves. i am using roller rockers. pistons.. they are going to be flat top. also am not boring anything out. but i am also looking for a .500 lift cam or anything bigger. if i go bigger how do i shim everything to make it work? i just need some help. please help me asap because i plan on getting this put together soon i am using a NON-EGR aluminum 4 barrel intake for it as well with a 800cfm carb

you need to speak to a reputable engine builder in your area. that motor will need torn down and inspected before you try and achieve those kinds of numbers. you would be foolish to think you can just slap it together run it hard, you will end up with a huge pile of parts on the ground from the motor letting go.

i also recommend you asking this in the engine build forum.

I would also recommend having the motor balanced and consider aftermarket heads.

You can still use your stock heads. I prefer the D0VE or the later D3VE heads.

If you go with a big cam remember you have to watch how big your cam is cause you might have to change yer converter.

Also upgrade yer springs.

ok yea. I plan on getting a np205 tcase freshly rebuilt, transmission cleaned up and rebuilt then obviously the motor all redone. Which is better the DOVE or the D3VE heads? I plan on getting double valve springs. Would I need to bore any since im doing this all? to get the 625-650h.p.

People really prefer the D0VE heads if you can't afford aftermarket heads.
The D3VE are the smog head but this is the better make of the smog head.

The D0VE isn't a smog head.

You can bore if you like. Boring helps with compression since you widen the area.

It's up to you whether you want to have a bigger cubic inch 460.
