Hello everyone, I am new to this forum, but have owned my 1995 F250 psd, 5 speed, extended cab, diy 6637 air filter, for over a year now and it has run great till now. I drove it about 2 weeks ago and it ran fine, parked it for about a week and a half over spring break got back and it wouldnt start. I have researched the forum on this condition and I think i have narrowed it down to 3 potential causes, ICP, IPR or IDM.
Here is what I have done so far:
Changed oil
Changed Fuel filter (bowl is full)
HPOP reservoir is full
low pressure oil gage comes up after cranking
Tach is registering
batteries charged
Replaced ICP (pulled the plug and had oil in the connector)
Tried starting with the ICP unplugged and it still will not start but the CEL light does come on while cranking.
no smoke while engine cranking
Glow plug relay is working
I am at a loss and any help on narrowing down the problem would be great.
Thanks
Do you have any way to pull the codes? Could be the idm, but you should see a code if you can read it. Was it by chance outside sitting in the rain? Also, make sure the ipr wire plug is on.
Welcome to fte, more help will come, you'll get it.
mq1 shooter, CEL only comes on when I unplug the ICP, I forgot to mention the fuses but they check out ok.
Where and how do I unplug the fuel bowl heater?
I dont have a way to pull codes but will see if I can find a code reader. It was sitting in the rain, it has actually been really wet on this side of Washington this year.
IPR plug is connected.
Thanks for all the input so far, I was busy with the kids baseball last night and couldnt check anything.
I will try to locate a scanner today and check the IDM tonight and let you all know how it goes.
quick update:
borrowed a autoxray code scanner and set it up for the truck and did a KOEO scan and it said vehicle not responding. Called my mechanic and he is sending over one of his guys to scan it after work.
I will post codes this evening.
Pulled the IDM and shook it and there is no sign of water intrusion.
