Well two years ago I broke my trans playing the rain so I put my spare in and it last for until last week when I was flogging my truck on the way home from work (2 miles). Now in both transmissions defense neither of them were built up so I think they did ok since they were both used before I took ownership of them.
So have parts ordered from Racer X to fix the first trans that broke. The OD drum center shaft broken. I won't be building a fully built trans like I really want but it will have extra clutches, shift kit and the upgraded TC it already had. I hope to upgrade to Racer X's TC when I get the cash but the budget it broke with what I already ordered.
So I haven't driven my truck since last Wednesday and I am in mourning. Here is a pic of my poor truck sitting the "to be repaired" line up at the shop. Note its location indicating it didn't get parked there under its own power.....
And a picture of the broken part from the first trans. Carnage report from the "Spare" trans when I get it tore down.
Your just to hard on your stuff TJ. LOL I can relate, I'm on my second rebuild. I can tell you how to come up with the money. Pretend your 2,000 miles from home and your stranded. The place in Oregon I had the second rebuild from I asked for the best they could get plus a triple disk TC and its been working good for 30K now. Still wish I could have gotten a BTS.
I feel your pain I haven't actually got to drive mine in like 3 weeks.
2 weeks and counting for me. Unfortunately my 96 will never see the road again... I'm just waiting for the insurance company to get their crap together so I can figure out if I'm buying it back and I can go get the 97 I'm buying.
I feel your pain I haven't actually got to drive mine in like 3 weeks.
I've still got fuel in mine from when i filled up December 5. 1/2 of one tank left to burn off..
TJ, I assume by reading you're building it yourself? Let us know how it all works when done, when mine goes I'm planning on buying a complete racer x trans. edit, if money allows that is..
Jim it seems I have a nack at breaking transmissions. I not putting down any thing special for power but I also haven't been running any thing special for transmission expect for a shift kit. My driving style has more to do with it. The first was play time in the rain and this one I was blowing off steam after work. Driving habits won't be changing so I just gotta build it to survive.
I will keep you guys updated on the build. I will be there for the build but I am having one of our Techs do the work. He used to work at a trans shop.
Well I ordered all my parts from Racer X. I have a clutch/rebuild kit, bearing, bushings, thrust washer and new pump in hand. Then decided this weekend I really need to break down and get the torque converter. So I have the EAGLE X6TC on order from Racer X. Hoping that Thursday and Friday the trans will be assembled and Fri/Sat it will be in the truck! Man I miss my truck!
