They should be identical. Are your new plugs installed with a 1/2 square drive or the new updated allen?

I would take them back. I just replaced mine in March and they were identical from Parts Guy Ed.

they go through the high pressure oil rail. The updated ones have a white teflon washer behind the o-rings.

It looks like the high pressure oil rail could be used on either side (not positive about this). You would have to reconfigure the dummy plug and stand pipe to do it.

Hi I'm new here, I'm having the same problem with my 05 250. The dealership wants $488 to replace the dummy plugs and $1164 for the STC fitting. I don't feel comfortable doing the work myself, what should I expect to pay from a local mechanic. Thanks in advance.

Do you have a friend that can help out?

There are many many individuals on here that are very capable to hlep you through it, along with many pictures.

Depending on where you get the STC it can be between $30 and $60
I got mine for $38.

Cheapest I have seen the dummy and stand pipe kit is ~$109

Thanks for the responce, I do have a neighbor that used to be a diesel mechanic, I haven't had a chance to ask him about it yet, he's been out of town and this just happened on Thursday (it's been running rough and died a couple of times earlier this week) Thursday was the day it got really bad.

I have checked out the parts from;
Ford 6.0 STC HPOP Fitting Update Kit
Ford 6.0 Updated Injector Rail Plugs AKA "Dummy Plugs"
Ford 6.0 Updated Stand Pipes

It looks like $250 for them, plus shipping.

I'm new to diesel trucks, I have owned 2- 5.8 gas 250's in the past, never had any problems with them, except a bad coil and wire.

Maybe I'll get a Haynes repair manual and check it out, unless you guys have a better one. Thanks again for the responce.
