Hey guys, sooooooo. I have an '05 Expy XLT with the Tow Package. I'm going to help my friend move back to California from Texas and he has two cars. Preferably we'd like to both ride in the Expedition and tow the other two cars.
I was wondering if it's possible of my Expy handling this? I thought I could especially seeing an explorer the other day towing some big boat lol. The two cars we would be towing are a 1995 BMW 5 Series and a 1990 Merc Benz 300e
Depends what it weighs. It's all about the weight.
Sweet! They're probably about 6k both then a fatass trailer? What's the max weight my 5.4 expy can handle? Also do the weight of the cars go all on my allowance or shared with the tires of the trailer? I just want to make sure lol. Thank you =>

It's all about the weight as long as you are on the interstate or out in the country until or if you run into a desert wind storm. Then things can get dangerous quick. The trailer weight and 2 cars will run up to or over 10,000 lbs and then there is all the stuff you carry inside the truck. Then you're in an over loaded condition, that trailer is going to be pretty long and that too will contribute to the potential for disaster. The Expedition has pretty good suspension but I don't think it will be up to the job for that trip with that load even with some supplimental suspension aids.
I think that if you guys need to talk on that trip you should buy a couple of CB radios and only trailer 1 car with your friend driving the other.
You could each drive one car and your friend could buy you a plane ticket back to Texas. That would be less dangerous and less expensive, provided both cars are road worthy.

You are probably close to over weight with just one car on that trailer. I agree that this isn't an option for you. Even getting near the maximum for a vehicle is a tough situation, you don't want the tail wagging the dog, and on top of it you will be over stressing the truck. Plan B.
Thanks for the help guys. Yeah, we decided to just use a tow dolly on the bimmer (since it's not legal to drive right now anyways) and he'll drive the MB =D
