Hi Guys- our Excursion won't start, can you please give me some ideas what we can look for? It's an '03 with 243K. We purchaswed it 7/10, it needed an injector in November, other than that, it hasn't been a problem. We've done regular oil changes every 5K mi and have been replacing the fuel filters and air filter as recommended. We usually only drive it once a week, it was started and moved several times in the driveway on Thursday. My husband checked the batteries as well as the starter and both are fine. When inserting the key and turning to on, everything powers fine, the glow plugs start, but the engine won't crank when turning to start. There is no clicking.... nothing. Please give me some ideas as to what to look for... it's sitting in his aunt's driveway and needs to be moved before tomorrow night. I hate to have it towed 35+mi for something he could've done. Any help is appreciated.
So my husband and a friend seem to think it's a bad solenoid on the starter. There was a spark there when moving one of the wires. Can the solenoid be purchased alone or do I need to buy a whole new starter and solenoid? None of the parts stores around here sell them separately.

If there was a spark when moving a wire, i would check for loose wires!!!
Hey Guys... I thought I'd just check back in with you. It turned out to be a bad connection between the solenoid and the starter... that's what caused the spark. Weird thing was that when he took the starter off earlier in the day and took it to the parts store, the starter passed the test? Don't know about that, would've thought if the connection was bad it would've failed the test. Anyway... I also wanted to add that if you need a starter, it pays to call around and check prices. The national guys all wanted about $200 with a lifetime warranty, but our local independant store uses a company out of MO and theirs was $130 with the same lifetime warranty! Thanks for your help!
