A better crossmember

I worked on truck for hours just to change C-6 pan gasket. That crossmember is still stuck up in there. Anybody got pictures of a good modification so you can get to all pan bolts? Thinking about cutting and welding plates on both sides that bolt on. The 70's were goooooood.

not completely sure what your working on, but on my 88 I notched out the back of the pieces that connect to the upper part of the frame so the top two bolts don't have to be removed (major PITA). always meant to tack the nuts to the crossmember, but didn't get to it.

You can get to all the bolts, and remove them without unbolting/moving the crossmember. You just neefd to use thr right tools. I've done it more than once.

you don't HAVE to remove that mount to get the back bolts, I pull the pan on my 78 almost once a year without removing anything but the bolts holding it on.....

^^^ yup.

The back bolts are a pain sometimes but a far cry from impossible.
