Post Turbo Pyro

I recently started a thread trying to figure out what all has been done to my 97' 250 including the pyro installed just after the turbo. Seeing that most are installed in the manifold I was thinking that it was installed incorrectly. I looked up the model number on the ISSPRO site and found that it is considered a post turbo model that looks like this:

I was just wondering if the temp range shown is appropriate for my truck? I was also wondering if there are any real advantages or disadvantages to having this setup?

Original thread: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post10244178

Thanks

Pre-turbo (manifold) probe location is what you want, and 1200F is the limit. That guage is fine, you just need to relocate the probe.

+1 on the above. That gauge is fine for what you want, but you will need to take off 2-300 degress for it beging post turbo. I haven't really figured out why anyone would want to see what there temps are after it has gone through the turbo and everything. I only really care what kind of temps are going through my turbo, and don't want to have to add to figure out what they are.

If 1200 is the limit pre-turbo wouldn't the gauge be scaled correctly for post turbo?

As far as the scaling goes, yes that gauge should work just fine. The only thing is you have to keep in mind that you are post turbo, so your high limit for any extended period of time should be around 900 ~ degress. You can go well over those numbers if you want, just don't stay there for extended periods (say no more than a 1/4 mile run). In the 1/4 or less I really wouldn't worry about where your numbers are so much.

From that thread it looks like I need to try and keep it below 800.

Thanks for the link. That's the first time I have seen the two compared side by side. I knew that 300 out full throtle was probably not enough, but I had no idea it was that far off. I always recomend putting them pre-turbo. Reps to you!!

That gauge is scaled for a pre-turbo installation.

So I should be able to just re-locate the pyro to the drivers side and re-intall it with no trouble right? I picked up a 1/8 NPT tap and SS plug anticipating I would have to before I looked the model # up on ISSPro's site.

S#*$ they used a 1/8 to 1/4NPT adapter. So now I have to put it back together and head up to the farm supply store in the hopes they have a tap, plug or an 1/8-1/8 adapter. The industrial supply place I use is closed on Sat.
