Hey ya'll-I'm a new member and looking to see if anybody knows how the blend air door is controlled=whether by vacuum or cable. It seems that if I use the heater-then the a/c doesn't seem to work so well.I'm thinking maybe the door doesn't fully close whe I go back to a/c.Is there any way to access the blend-air door to troubleshoot the problem. If it's cable-actuated it probably isn't sticking but maybe it is if it's vacuum operated. The temp control is a radial ****.Any thoughts?
The blend door is driven by an electric motor that in turn is controlled by the temperature control on your dashboard. One vacuum servo re-directs air flow from defrost, vents and floor but it doesn't affect the blend door at all.

If I can help you to locate any parts used in that thread feel free to contact me via PM.
I read your other thread. LOL about the Manual. Remember that time that I went by the Manual removed the steering wheel, airbag, blah, blah to pull out the instrument cluster to replace burnt bulbs? And I am supposed to know my way around these vans since I have owned and worked on them for many years!!!
I would take this Forum's advice over Ford's advice any day. Those Ford engineers never had to live with these vans like we owners do.
Oh heck yes on those factory manuals Henry---VERY misleading sometimes! Mine is on a CD-ROM and when looking for remove/replace the heater core I honestly thought I'd selected the wrong section---"remove steering column........." WTH?? Even when I re-read it I was still just lost!
My saving grace is knowing more than a few very qualified mechanics who ply that trade daily and know the easy quick ways to make repairs. While I wouldn't have removed my dashboard to repair the heater its still good to have someone in the biz. BTW they laugh every time I mention something from my manual!
These heaters seem daunting at first but now after having done one I wouldn't hesitate to do it again because its just not that difficult. Try one-------you'll see!
