A 302 with a York Compressor

Hello again!

Anyone have a 302 with a York AC Compressor on it? I'm trying to figure out how this bracketry goes on it and I cant figure out where the idler pully goes.

I bought the bracketry and compressor used off craigslist because I went from a 300 to a 302 and the old brackets obviously will not line up.

Does anyone else have this same setup and can post some pictures for me?

These are the extra parts of the bracket that I am TOLD go with the setup.

Here are pictures of the area from a bunch of angles

Thanks for looking everyone. Hope someone else has this setup... It might be a late 70's bracket

No idea where that other idler pully could have been mounted. The one by the upper hose should be the belt adjustment.

I have seen some FE engines use a second idler down near the PS pump, due to the belt having an excessive amount of flop between the comp and crank. I don't see any way that idler could have been mounted there though....

You are missing the upper braket. It mounts to the water pump forms a face that is parallel to the radiator, then does a bend at the top of the pump and uses the 2 right most (closer to the passenger) bolts in the top of the pump. The plate has a spot to mount the pulley. It also keeps the pump from moving.

This is the best I can find in the parts book.

In the future, please specify the details - what year, what model, what engine at a
minimum. In this case, just knowing the YEAR(S) of the engine(s) and knowing if dealer- or
factory-added AC would have been QUITE helpful as there are about 50 pages of these
diagrams in the book just for AC stuff....

Its a 1982 Ford F100 with a 302 in it. Originally had a 300-6 and dealer air. Bought the bracket from a guy who is not sure what year it is but knows it was either late 70's or early 80's 302.

The Top diagram looks Exactly like my bracket but it doesnt show a tensioner. How am I supposed to tighten the belt up? Anyone know where that long bar on the bottom left is supposed to go?

Loosen the bolt in the backside of that idler pully right by the top hose, and it will pivot. Notice the convienent hex shape of the part right behind the pully? That's for using a wrench to tension the belt.

Those older trucks has 2 different types of idler pullys. For some reason, you've got both, but only the one is actually correct.

Thanks guys.

The long bar goes from one of the large bolt holes on the intake manifold to one of the bolt holes on the side (which is now the top) of the compressor.

Its needed as a stabilizer. That thing shook like a drunks knees without that bar hooked up.

Seems to be working fine. Thanks again
