Transmission problem

I just picked up a 1986 BRONCO and I'm having problems. Not sure what model tranny I have. It's an automatic/302. Going from 1st and 2nd seem to be fine, then 2nd to 3rd nothing is happening. I hope this is a fairly easy fix. HELP! thanks. NEWBEE2.

I have a C-4 on my 302. By the part # it's a 70's era. I am having similar problems. I am going to do the research on it and I will let you know any and all I find out.

If it is a C4 and reverse is O.K. You probably have a stuck governor. Raise and suspend the transmission so that you can remove the tailhousing ( It would be best to drain first) Remove the 4 bolt's holding the governor and slide it off the tailshaft. Very easily work the valving to see that it move's. If not lightly tap it against something again see if the valving move's. Continue until it does. Replace it when it free's up.
