Started My OBA Project

Just as the title says, starting my "on the cheap" OBA project. First step was to get the tank mounted. I picked up the tank off of EBAY, it was listed as an M871 air tank. I used some 1 1/2" angle to mount it up. It has 5 ports, 4 of which are 1/2". I'm going to get a flip up license plate to have access to the rear quick disconnect coming out of the tank with a short nipple. More to come as the funds and time allow.

Now I chose this location because my 37" spare will not fit, and there was a lot of real estate there. It is also totally tucked up out of the way for wheeling purposes also.

Here you can see where I'm going to mount a short nipple then the coupler, this is where the flip up license plate holder comes into play.

[IMG][/IMG]

Totally tucked.

Mock up.

Welded up.

Like I said, more to come as I complete the project, but I'm in no real hurry.....

Looks good Jeff. I like the license plate idea.

For now, until I figure out how to mount a York, I'm going to use a Q-Industries MV-90. I know it's made by the ChiCongs, but for the money, and after reading the reviews, I thought I would give it a shot. Here's a comparison that 8 Lug did:

Portable Vehicle Sir Systems - Superflow MV-90 - 8 Lug Magazine

I bought it off of Ebay for $139/free shipping. I'm going to wire it up using Anderson Connectors and a "quick mount" that I have yet to design. That way I can keep it portable.

I'm gonna do the York myself... have the pump, too! It's a 210 and it's painted yellow. I'd be willing to bet it came off a Cat! Anyways, what I'm gonna "attempt" to do is get myself the second alternator bracket. I don't think the York will fit very well down in the second alternator position so what I'll probably end up doing is mounting my one alternator down below and then mount the compressor up top. I might even be able to use my capped CCV port on my intake and use my air filter for the compressor. As for mounting it up, I'll make an adapter plate out plate steel and then order a custom-sized belt! The whole idea sounds good... as to how well it'll work? We'll see. Seems to me that with my luck, nothing ever works like it seems it ought to.

Jon, if you get that all worked out, let me know, cause that's exactly what I want to do. I figured I will get the system all plumbed and ready to go for the time when a York finds it's way under my hood.

I know this is an OLD thread, but just wondering WA.Ranger, if you've gotten everything done and have any pics or suggestions. I want to put a York 210 under my hood as well and trying to figure out the best way to do it. I'm thinking of relocating the alternator to the optional 2nd Alt position and then putting the York up top, or just getting the 2nd Alt bracket and modifying it to put the York down below in the 2nd Alt position.
